Cooler Than Evite

I love sending invitations to things: parties, events, dinners, puppy play dates.

But... I feel like I've run through all the cool Evite templates and I'd feel ridiculous if I accidentally sent the same invite for two different events.

Enter Pingg

I love this site! You can send really cool, artsy invitations (even print them if you want!) and... use your own photos.

Sweetness.

Sexy Yet Demure

I know that eye-popping yellow is again the "pet color" of spring. But, not everyone looks fantastic in a color that screams for attention.

I'm loving this Banana Republic top for all the right reasons -- sassy and sweet, work-friendly, sweet, yummy yellow that works well for women who haven't spent any time in the sun or tanning bed in the last few months.

I can totally see how this baby would integrate into my wardrobe -- and I think it'd be a nice addition to yours.

Lauren Conrad Style?

Okay, lets look at Lauren Conrad's boring "fashion" collection.

I've seen cuter dresses in Target's maternity department (p.s. I am not pregnant). I mean, sure. Flowy, drapy dresses were all the rage in Spring '07. This spring fitted, less speculation-inducing dresses and tops are going to more prevalent.

Items in the collection are named after Conrad's "The Hills" costars -- the Whitney Dress, Audrina Dress, Nichole Skirt. How very middle school. If I were a fashion designer, I would SO name items in my collection after my BFFs.

Besides being boring and frumpy, these dresses are not cheap. The Audrina Dress pictured is $150. Um... most any girl who watches The Hills knows that Forever 21 has a dress that looks just like this and costs under $30.

I mean, I've got to admit that its cool that LC actually WEARS her collection in public -- Hello SJP, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (Walmart collection), and Jessica Simpson (did you know she's designing for Fashion Bug? Did you know that people actually SHOP at Fashion Bug).

What The Heck Is Fafi?
MAC cosmetics has a new line of cosmetics out called Fafi. I, um, don't really get it.

So, its made up of cute shades (think peaches, bright pinks) of lucious, creamy shadows, sparkling glosses and dramatic liners. The colors are totally fab.

What I don't get is the Fafi name and the corresponding Fafinette dolls. Sure, its "so very French," but the name doesn't immediately make one think of beauty, and the packaging doesn't seem to accomplish what its aiming to do.

But... I'd buy it on the principle that MAC is constantly recreating delicious colors and this is no exception.

Flirty & Fun Tip

Benefit cosmetics has released Thrrrob -- the perfect pink blush. Use it to get that rosy I-just-ran-a-mile look without having to exercise. It'll make you look sweet and innocent with an exciting, sexy twist... and what girl doesn't love that?

My Crush Of the Day

Today, I have been listening to the Juno soundtrack all damned day.

Its catchy, pop-y, funny and sweet without being cloying. I know I don't typically try to give advice on music, but this is my favorite CD thus far in 2008.

If you've seen the movie, the soundtrack will fill your guts with a warm and cozy feeling of happiness.

Nail Polish That Doesn't Scare Me

For some reason, I always hesitate before applying nail polish. Its not the shine or color that makes me reconsider, its more the thought of those chemicals. I mean, c'mon, touline? formeldahyde? BHD? Gross, scary and not things I should be in contact with on a regular basis. Same to you, BTW.

So... how excited was I to find ZOYA -- they make a polish free from these chemicals. Even better -- they are cheap at about $6 a pop.

The colors are lucious -- especially this Blissful collection. Sweet, springy and serene without being too "bridal."

Lazy Daisy

Airbrush cosmetics kind of rock. If they didn't, celebs wouldn't have their shelac-like foundation applied this way.

These stick-on eyeshadow colors, really don't rock.

I mean, I get that some people aren't super good at applying their eyeshadow in ways that are complimentary to their skintone. But most everyone looks good with a single neutral shade swept across their lids.

If you feel compelled to spend $6 per makeup application, head over to your local MAC counter and have one of their artists apply your makeup for free. Watch them as they do it, paying special attention to motions and the brushes they use. Then, use that money you would have spent on eyeshadow stickers (say 1 pack of 5 stickers -- which runs about $30) and buy a few new shadows, or a shadow and a brush and voila!

You get more makeup applications for your money, and you'll be able to switch it up with new colors as your cosmeticapplying-confidence grows.

Terrible Lip Sync!
I am so mean, but I must share this Ashley Tisdale lip sync action from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I could do a better job lip syncing -- with noise cancelling headphones on.

Perhaps she thought her surgery to fix her "deviated septum" a.k.a. imperfect nose would improve her lip syncing skills?

Hmmm.

Something Blue

You know the old saying, "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue."

I have some friends who planned that out and knew exactly what they'd use. I am not one of those girls. I don't have a wedding binder, I don't even know whether I'd rather be married in spring or fall.

I do know that this monogram is such a great way to personalize a wedding dress (on the inside -- of course) and respect that age-old saying. Just order your monogram and have it sewn into your dress. And... if your husband forgets your anniversary, he could always take a peek at the dress :)

Tres chic!

Organization is Hot

Who knew organization could be so hot?

Russell + Hazel has this absolutely adorable slick black (also available in white) expandable 8-pocket file tote.

If you're running a business or planning a wedding or just need to be organized on the go, this little baby is perfect for you.

I love it, and we actually accented the black and white with super cute black, white and gray file folders for storables. Now, we can just slap on the labels and start planning!

Sephora -- stop taking my money!

Sephora's got a fantastic selection of cosmetics and skincare -- their only downfall is their exclusion of MAC.

Lately, they've been sending tempting deals to my inbox and I have been quite bad at resisting. This morning, I got this...

How in the world can I not order!

Looks like my makeup bag will be bursting this winter:)

Beautiful beautious

I must apologize. I didn't find the time to send you love and fashion from the sandy beaches of Mexico. I do apologize for ignoring my computer for days and days, but I don't know many people who would put down a frozen margarita to type.

Anyway, here's a lovely little number so you can "wow" your coworkers or friends at those holiday parties!

Ted Baker makes a stunning little number in silk. This warm silk dress will love a tan, but unless you are uber-pale, I think it'll even forgivingly warm nearly any skin tone. The sash balance the dense (but beautiful) detailing on the bottom.

This beau-t-ous dress would look fantastic with black tights and flats, or marvelous with an open-toed pump (like those little HollyWould stunners at Target.com) and bare legs.

Work It

Oh, the plight of finding cosmetics that work well with one another. Then, just because they work together doesn't mean they'll work on your face.

Until... Sephora packed together this utterly fabulous kit that really works your assets. They packaged together all kinds of "hits."

My absolute favorite mascara -- Diorshow
Fantasticly warm and yummy Stila lipglaze
and... a bunch of other lovelies, tucked inside this fab sequined clutch. Take this little beauty on vacation or just to the bar down the street. Aptly named "Supermodel", take this out and you won't be ignored.

Beauty In A Box

All I want for Christmas is this perfect gift box from Stila.

I love the coverage, colors and flavors (of gloss, of course) of Stila's line, but I find the products a tad pricey for the amount you get (which is why I am a religious user of Benefit and MAC). This little kit has their best products, rolled into one. The best part, it sells for 50% less than it's actual value. Wink, wink.

It has: Lip Glaze in Fruit Cake (golden rose), Eye Shadow in Kitten and Barefoot Contessa, Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 in Shade 01, and Multi-Effect Mascara in Black.

Keep it at your desk or your boyfriend's house for a quick makeup pickup without having to haul that makeup bag all over the place.

I Covet Thee

These beauties are completely unrealistic for my budget, but so beautiful, I could wear them with almost anything (except my favorite suit -- sigh). But, these low-heeled Christian Louboutin lovelies are smart enough to make it through the day and sexy enough to hit any dance floor with reckless abandon.

Like An 80s Video Game

Burberry used to be classic. Like Louis Vuitton, they seem to have veered of the path of goodness and created this hideous bag. Yes, we are all aware that large, fake jewels are everywhere this season. But this bag designer's attempt to tie that trend to the classic Burberry check pattern ended in a burning disasters.

I bet my favorite handbag that this ends up 30% off or more by Jan. 1.

Little Mynx
Don't you hate when you find something super cute, a jacket, shoes, whatever. And you proudly don said item, just to see some other hussy wearing the same thing?

Well, someone near and dear to me showed me this fantastic website with edgy yet classic jackets. If you wear one of these babies, you'll never be mistaken for a Macy*s shopper... and that's a good thing.

Skinny Jeans? Yes Please

I am wearing skinny-leg jeans today, and yet, they are far from my skinny jeans. Sigh.

Thank goodness I found this fantastic shade of cream shadow from Benefit. "Skinny Jeans" is a luxe shade of metallic pewter in "creaseless, cream" form. This little sweety will line my eyes for those daytime events, and really make my peppers pop when I want to make an impact.

Oh, BTW, MAC
I love ya babe, I really do. But, that Antiquitease event was... ho hum. The collection was okay, but not spectacular.

I did get to play with the new Holiday '07 makeup, but one of the items included in the pre-sale tease was not in store. Sadness, considering it was the one I most coveted. Oh well, I'll have to make do with a new palette and a new brush set.

My Statement

Everyone knows that the statement coat is all the rage for this fall/winter '07 season. Well, what's a girl to do when she already has a fantastic lipstick red car coat and an ivory boucle jacket (with detachable fur collar, of course)?

Well, I found my '07 statement coat. I'm such a fan of Nick & Mo. They offer small collections each season and their styling is fun and classy at the same time.

If you recall, I got that sweet, buttery yellow frock for my summer wardrobe, that little dress got me through many a sunny day.

Now, I coveted (and ordered) this lovely little 'Abby' coat. The tweed, the large buttons, exaggerated collar! Love it. Nordstrom promises I should see it in a matter of a week -- I can't wait to pair it with black gloves and a cloche hat!

Purrrrrr-fection!

I am waiting in anticipation for this weekend, and the launch of the new MAC Holiday 2007 line! Thankfully, I'll be attending the Antiqutease event on Sunday, scooping up my new favorite items while snacking on savouries and fantastic cocktails. MAC never lets me down.

What do I covet most? Royal Assets Eyeshdow palette in "Smokey" (far right) as I've been looking for the perfect gray shadow with which to line my lashes.

Also, I love, love, love the Keepsake Kit. What a perfect little "to go" with Shimmertime Pigment, Sunbasque Blush, Glamoursun Lipglass, Nightsky Soft Sparkle Pencil. Toss in your favorite Mascara (Hello, Supernova) and you're good to go, on the go! And... that fantastic little tweed pouch is perfection!

So ladies, pencil in a little time to head to MAC -- you don't want to miss this collection (believe me, you can't wait for your holiday bonus, much of this collection will be gone by Thanksgiving!).

Like (Alexander) McQueen

MAC cosmetics took their color to an eye-popping level with the special release of the Alexander McQueen collection, based on his Fall '07 show.

Neutral lips meshed with flawless foundation and eye-popping shadows, all the way up to the brow.

I've been coveting a dark gray shadow, but may also snap up "Nile" and "Haunting" for some kick-a-- color.

How Hard Is It To Make A Good Cosmetic Bag?

I have actively been searching for a quality cosmetic bag since June. Sure, mine is sufficient, but it is ugly and I want a new one.

I started out on the Benefit site. They have fun cosmetics, why wouldn't they have fab cosmetic bags?

Unfortunately, the best thing I could find is the attached image. Not so cute -- though I love the framed top. Looks like you'll be going through this search with me. Any suggestions?

Meeeee-ow
Purely brilliant, MAC pulls in the hottest icon I can think of. Dita Von Teese, ex-wife to Marilyn Manson, burlesque queen, and sexy MF.

I love that she's always in character, perfectly coiffed, and simply beautiful.

There's a fabulous interview of her on CNN, about her persona, check it out!

Vera? Is That You?
I checked out the Simply Vera line at Kohls. I just have a question for her. Why?

Her clothing is barely recognizable from her actual designs. The shoes are like bricks. The jewelry looks cheap. Accessories (scarves, gloves) and outerwear are boring.

I actually had hoped that this line could bring fashion to those who couldn't afford $400+ for a dress. Apparently not.

Skip this and save your pennies for something that doesn't look frumpy.

Back To Basics - For The Better

Remember Tarina Tarantino? That designer who charmed us with chunky rings and fun, bejeweled hair decorations in 2000-ish? Well, she's still around and her new collection is FAB-U-LOUS!

Check out these sweet scarab locket necklaces. Ancient scarab magic meets sweet, scrolled locket design and gold! I SO want this necklace.

It would be sweet perfection with a turtleneck babydoll dress or top.

Hello Gorgeous!

I think I have died and gone to heaven. So, I love Forever 21 for their inexpensive, fashionable frocks. And I adore White House Black Market for their beautiful styling. My tastes change so frequently that I have trouble spending over $200 for a dress I may only wear once.

Well, my prayers have been answered! Forever 21's parent company launched a new concept, Twelve By Twelve. Inexpensive, luxe and downright modish, this line is exudes grace, style and confidence.

I can't wait to wear one of these sexy dresses with ankle boots and maybe a pair of black gloves!

Kenzie? Kensie? Does It Matter?

The clothing line "Kenzie" is changing their name. Now, there is no reason I can think of to shed a perfect name like "Kenzie" in favor of something wrong, like "Kensie."

I have no idea why they are making this stupid change, but know that I will not rest until I get to the bottom of this foolish game.
